MEET LEA!
THE BUG LADY BEHIND BUGKIDZ
Lea THE BUG LADY!
BugKidz is created and hosted by Lea, delivering mobile educational entertainment across the Gold Coast, Brisbane, Ipswich, and Northern NSW - bringing unforgettable bug experiences to childcare centres, schools, and community events.
Lea isn’t only “good with bugs”, she’s brilliant with kids. With a background in early childhood learning, Lea has shaped BugKidz into something special: shows that are wildly fun, deeply engaging, and thoughtfully designed to support the way children actually learn.
Children will often RUN UP TO Lea and say how much they loved the SHOW and of course “the bugs”!
Lea is passionate about building a foundation of wonder for the natural world from an early age. When children learn young that insects and bugs play a vital role in our environment - pollination, decomposition, balance in nature - they grow up with more curiosity and less fear.
BugKidz helps kids understand that nature is full of important creatures - great and small - and that even the tiniest mini beast has a purpose.
Lea is highly experienced and qualified, with a Diploma in Childcare, a current working with children Blue Card, and current CPR/First Aid - so you can feel confident your group is in safe hands.
BUGKIDZ BENEFITS EDUCATORS!
Built to support your program, planning and QIP
BugKidz is designed to be more than “a fun incursion” - it’s built to support your programming cycles with nature-based ideas that help you extend children’s learning before and after the visit. It also provides strong support for your Quality Improvement Plan (QIP), with clear links to Quality Area 3 (strengthening children’s environmental awareness) and Quality Area 6 (collaborative partnerships with families and communities).
To make it easy, you’ll receive a support letter outlining the key elements and connections for your documentation.
HOW BUGKIDZ HELPS EDUCATORS (THE PRACTICAL WINS):
- Engagement you can rely on: Enhancing children’s involvement, which makes observations and reflections easier.
- Ready-made learning moments: rich prompts for group discussion, follow-up experiences, and extension activities.
- Documentation-friendly: ideal for capturing learning stories, photos, children’s voice, and reflective practice.
- Centre-friendly delivery: mobile, self-contained, and structured to suit your ages and group size.
- EYLF-aligned learning in a way kids actually love
BugKidz naturally supports the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) — particularly Learning Outcome 2: “Children are connected with and contribute to their world.”
Outcome 2.4 is especially relevant here. It’s all about children becoming socially responsible and showing respect for the environment - understanding the connection between people, plants, animals and the land. BugKidz supports this through nature-based experiences and sustainable habits like recycling, composting and caring for living things.

THE HEART BEHIND BUGKIDZ
At the core of BugKidz is a simple belief: every child deserves to feel included, capable, and celebrated. Lea loves creating an environment where children feel safe to participate, brave enough to be curious, and proud of what they discover - whether they’re the first to jump up and answer a question, or the quiet observer who takes a little longer to warm up.
- Lea truly believes children have an incredible ability to learn when the environment is right - and an even bigger capacity for love, kindness, and compassion. That’s why BugKidz isn’t only about insects… it’s about helping children practice gentleness, respect, and empathy for living things, for nature, and for each other.
looking for a joyful, inclusive, and genuinely meaningful EXPERIENCE FOR CHILDREN - you’ve found it.
